Thanks to Jonas Anderson and Sebastian S. Larsen for the Bahamut logo.
Welcome to
the Bahamut web site. Bahamut is an Internet Relay Chat Daemon (IRCd) designed
for DALnet, one of the major IRC networks
in the world. You may be familiar with DreamForge, the previous DALnet IRCd.
Bahamut 1.8.4 Released
Bahamut 1.8.4 has now been released on the download page.
Bahamut 1.8.x
Bahamut 1.8.x has now been released, it is different from 1.4.x in some major ways. Please make note of the following when using 1.8.x.
* It no longer has ./config, all these options are now configurable in the ircd.conf.
* It no longer users the line config format, but now uses a bind style config.
* Now includes example.conf and reference.conf, the first is an example and the latter is an example of all possible commands, but will not run normally.
* Unfortunatly is somewhat lacking in documentation at current, users should use their heads as much as possible.
bahamut-community.org
A group of bahamut fans have come together and formed http://bahamut-community.org. This site contains help, documents and information regarding bahamut. It is in a forum format so you may ask questions there.
It also contains patches to modify bahamut in ways that many people have wanted that we do not.
We must stress though that is NOT offical, and we do not support anything they do or say on that site, please do NOT ask us about it.
Bahamut is based on both DreamForge
and Hybrid, the EFnet IRCd. With this new IRCd, DALnet will now have the capability
to hold more clients with less lag, generally making it a better place to
be. This site is here to prevent confusion and answer any questions you may
have about the changes between Bahamut and DreamForge
Bahamut is designed to run on the following OS' without any issues: FreeBSD and Linux.
Bahamut is known to run on the following OS' but may need some tweaking: Solaris, Tru64, AIX and OSX.
Bahamut will not run on: Windows.
There are various unoffical patches and distributions of bahamut
on the internet that allow it to run on Windows, support IPv6 or client side SSL. These
patches/distributions are completely unoffical and are not
supported by the bahamut team.
Bahamut does offically support server to server SSL, and offical
IPv6 support is planned in the very near future.
Bahamut has been in development
for over a year, during which we have seen many public releases. Bahamut's
development team are continuously looking for ways to improve the IRCd. There
are a few features unique to Bahamut, as well as some features that have become
standard in Hybrid - which we will outline. If you have any bug
reports, PLEASE read over this site BEFORE you contact us. We can be reached
on DALnet in the channel #bahamut or from the Contact
page. We do not support bahamut tech questions regarding bahamut in #bahamut.
